In Round 14 the Werribee Devils Youth League Women (3rd, 10-4) hosted the Coburg Giants (5th, 8-6). Their previous showdown was in Round 3, and the Devils won it 77-71.

The Giants raced out of the blocks, jumping to an 8-0 lead inside the first two minutes. Eliza Herne scored the Devils first four points and was joined by Tegan Hindle. Alex Moss fired up with six points in quick time, giving the Devils the lead at the halfway point of the quarter. Hindle and Herne stretched the lead further before Mac Aodha and Hoogenhout scored for the Giants in the last minute, giving the visitors a one-point quarter time lead. Herne and Moss led the Devils with six points each for the quarter and Hindle added four. Herne also grabbed seven rebounds.

A Hindle free throw was the only Devils score in the first six minutes of the second term while the Giants added ten points, to open a double digit lead. Hindle scored again but was answered by seven consecutive Giants points through Mac Aodha and Efstathiadis. Hindle scored with thirty seconds remaining but the Giants went into half time with a 15-point lead. Hindle scored all five Devils points, while Herne (4) and Lea (3) helped out with the rebounding.

Determined to avoid a repeat of their five-point second quarter, Moss and Hindle came out and scored six points inside the first two minutes. Macbegor and Mac Aodha replied for the Giants, but then the Hindle and Vincent-Lord helped the Devils on a 10-0 run and they got within six points halfway through the quarter. Dalmau and Hoogenhout got the Giants lead back out to double figures and neither team scored in the last two minutes, meaning the Giants led 50-38 at three-quarter time. Hindle scored eight points for the Devils and had three rebounds and two steals. She was supported by Moss and Vincent-Lord with four points each.

The Devils started the final term well, outscoring the visitors 12-5 and crept within five points in the early stages of the quarter. Moss, Herne and Vincent-Lord all contributed on the scoreboard. The Giants turned things around, with a 14-2 run in four minutes to put the game out of the Devils reach. Moss (five points, seven rebounds for the quarter), Hindle and Vincent-Lord (seven points) all scored in the last two minutes to get the Devils within 13 at the final buzzer.

In Round 15 the Devils (3rd, 10-5) will host the the Craigieburn Eagles (6th, 5-11). The Devils won both their previous encounters, 87-52 in Round 2 and 78-67 in Round 8.
