In Round 14 the Werribee Devils State Championship Men (9th, 5-11) travelled to take on the Waverley Falcons (3rd, 12-3).

Jeremy Smith started well for the Devils, scoring their first six points before Jordan Hughes nailed a three pointer. Fred Hunter and Jack Macdonald also got on the board but the Falcons opened up a lead thanks to a 9-2 run late in the quarter. Justin Ward and Macdonald both scored in the last minute but were matched by Boyle and McCoy and the Falcons took a seven point lead, 24-17, into quarter time. Smith led the way for the Devils with six points and two rebounds, supported by Macdonald (four points) and Hughes (three points, two rebounds).

Justin Ward kicked things off for the Devils in the second term and was immediately answered by Falcons Platenik and Boyle. Smith and Hunter combined for the Devils next eight points. Neither team gained any real ascendancy. The Falcons scored six unanswered points late in the quarter, but Hunter, Smith and Sonda kept the Devils in touch. At the half time buzzer, the margin was again seven points in favour of the Falcons. Hunter warmed up with eight points for the quarter, joined by Smith (seven points, two assists). Macdonald also had three assists.

The Falcons blew the game open in the first three minutes of the third quarter, scoring ten unanswered points and racing to a 17-point lead. The Devils would not get the margin back to single digits for the remainder of the game. Late in the third quarter, Macdonald, Hunter and Smith combined for an 8-2 run to reduce the margin to 10 and the last quarter was an arm wrestle. Ultimately a three minute blitz by the Falcons at the start of the second half decided the result.

In the third quarter Smith had nine points and two rebounds, Macdonald scored six points
and Hunter contributed five points and two rebounds. In the final term Smith led the Devils with six points, Macdonald had five points and three rebounds, while Hunter and Hughes both scored four points. Sonda contributed two assists and two rebounds.
