In Round 14 the Werribee Devils Division One Women (10th, 2-12) travelled to take on the Latrobe City Energy (6th, 8-6). The Devils won their Round 4 matchup 82-71.
Bex Van Kuyk opened the scoring for the Devils with two free throws, then Hood scored six points in a minute, giving the Energy an early lead. Jessica Slade scored the first field goal for the Devils then the Energy scored five points in a row and it was three minutes before Jackie Silcock landed a three-pointer to keep the Devils in the game. The Energy went on another 7-0 run, establishing a double digit lead before Nicole Greene also landed a three-pointer for the Devils. A basket and free throw from Slade brought the margin back to single digits and a Ferguson basket in the final 20 seconds gave the Energy a nine-point lead at quarter time. Slade led the Devils with five points, four rebounds and two steals, Silcock and Greene added three points each, while Van Kuyk grabbed four rebounds.
A Pyle three-pointer to begin the second term was matched by a basket and free throw from Slade. Slade scored again soon after, before Hood and D’Angelo combined for six consecutive Energy points. Van Kuyk and Lewis scored for the Devils and it was another four minutes before they scored again. The Energy scored five points in that time, and pretty soon the margin was out to 16. Van Kuyk broke the scoreless drought, only to see the Energy finish the quarter with eight points in a row and the Devils were facing a 22-point half time deficit. Slade (five points) and Van Kuyk (four points, three rebounds) were prominent for the Devils.
Van Kuyk kicked the Devils off in the third quarter, but things only got worse from there. For every basket the Devils scored, the Energy had scoring streaks of seven, four and four and with three minutes to go the margin was beyond 30. Van Kuyk had four points and five rebounds for the Devils, while Silcock, Slade and Greene each had two points.
The Energy scored the first four points of the final term before Slade and Greene scored for the Devils. Three points to D’Angelo took the Energy lead out to 40, before Lewis scored five unanswered points for the Devils midway through the quarter. Three minutes passed before Jackie Silcock scored a three and a free throw and the Energy scored five points to take the margin back out beyond 40 points. The Energy never took their foot of the pedal, as Drenen scored four points in the final minute and Pyle landed a couple of free throws at the death, resulting in a huge 89-47 victory. Lewis had five points and two steals, Silcock added four points and Van Kuyk grabbed six rebounds.

After taking a pounding at the hands of Latrobe City the previous night, the Werribee Devils Division One Women (10th, 2-12) returned home to face the Hawthorn Magic (9th, 4-10). In their last encounter the Magic got up 91-90 in double overtime.
Bex Van Kuyk and Jessica Slade got the Devils off to a good start in the first couple of minutes, then the Magic went on an 8-0 run over the next four minutes before Slade and Doni Lewis levelled the contest. The Magic maintained a narrow lead over the last couple of minutes and led by two points at quarter time. Slade led the Devils with five points and two rebounds, Lewis had four points and two steals and Van Kuyk had three points and six rebounds.
Van Kuyk started the quarter well, scoring six points in the opening 90 seconds and getting the Devils the lead back. They didn’t score again for the next four minutes, but the Magic only scored once themselves, before Nicole Greene got on the board. The Magic scored the last eight points of the quarter to take a seven point half time lead. Van Kuyk was the Devils standout for the quarter with six points and four rebounds.
The Magic maintained a single digit lead throughout the whole third quarter, despite the efforts of Slade, who had a huge quarter with 10 points and two rebounds. Neither team could get on any sort of run, but the Devils scored four points in the last 30 seconds thanks to Lewis and Slade to get within four points at the last break. Lewis and Van Kuyk added two points each and Tegan Hindle had three rebounds.
The Magic scored first to extend their lead before Slade replied with a free throw. Tegan Hindle came on with immediate effect, scoring five points in 30 seconds to tie the game up. Greene scored next to give the Devils the lead, before Magic's Zuccolo scored a basket, was fouled and converted the bonus. Van Kuyk added four points, giving the Devils the lead with 6.13 to go and they wouldn’t give it up. Then Lewis traded three-pointers with Alabakov and Fielding. Van Kuyk continued putting the ball in the hole but the Magic gave as good as they got. The Devils led by two with 1.15 remaining, before Van Kuyk and Hindle both scored baskets giving the Devils a 62-56 win. Van Kuyk finished strongly with 10 points and four rebounds. She was joined by Hindle with nine points and three assists, as well as Lewis with six points and three assists.
In Round 15 the Devils (10th, 3-13) are at home again against the Craigieburn Eagles (11th, 2-14). The Devils won their Round 8 clash 78-51
