The Werribee Devils Youth League Men have made a fantastic start to the 2017 season. Despite being handed three double-headers in the first four rounds, the Devils have not lost a game and go into the Easter break at 6-0, equal at the top of the table with Keilor Thunder.

In Round 4 the Devils hosted the Ballarat Miners on Saturday night before heading up to Bendigo on Sunday to face the Braves.

The Devils got off to the better start against Ballarat, establishing a seven-point lead at quarter time. Both teams increased their scoring output in each quarter, but the Devils had the superior firepower with a huge 29-point final term resulting in the final margin pushing beyond 30.

One thing that stood out was the Devils defensive pressure. Paddy Daley (six) and Mitch Alush (three) had nine blocks between them, while TJ Remy (three) and Cam Hutton (four) combined for seven steals.

The really impressive thing about this Devils unit is the number of contributors they have on any given day. The workload is generally spread evenly, with all players putting up numbers when they have a chance. The Devils had six players in double figures against Ballarat, and had at least six scorers in every quarter. There were nine Devils rebounders in the third quarter and ten players took a rebound in the last quarter.

The Devils (1st, 6-0) have won their six games by an average of 20 points and have only dropped three quarters so far this season. After Easter they return for their fourth double-header, taking on Corio Bay Stingrays (4th, 3-3) away before returning to host Warrandyte Venom (8th, 2-2) at Eagle Stadium.
